This is the Helmet of the Imperial Navy
Pilot. CANON VERSION

VARIATIONS IN MARKINGS: OPTIONAL
1. IMPERIAL INSIGNIA ONLY
Totally
gloss black, no colored markings at all, this version of the TIE Pilot
helmet is striking in its simplicity. The only markings are the two
Imperial Insignias on either side of the "mohawk" that runs down the
middle of the helmet. Imperial insignias may either be white or silver
or light gray. Different colored "cogs" are not approvable.
Versions of the TIE Pilot helmet have come in several forms. The
original Don Post Classic Action, Don Post Standard, Rubies and numerous
fan made unlicensed versions. The closest to "Movie Accurate" is the Don
Post Classic Action. While no longer in production, The DLCA has been
the "Holy Grail" of helmets. Though rare, the DPCA is the standard that
most pilots strive for. However, as long as your helmet meets Legion
standards, be it Rubies or fan made, approval will be made by your GML.
2. GRILL & CHIN
While totally optional, the drilling out of the "grill" or "frown" is an
accepted practice. This not only adds depth to the feature but also
allows for air to enter the helmet. Applying window screen material to
the inside of the helmet in either silver, gray or black is acceptable.
3. WIDOWS TEARS
Widows tears are an acceptable option when painting your helmet.
Allowable colors are silver or gun metal gray.
4. CHEEK MARKINGS
The cheek marking is again totally optional. If used, it may be
painted in gray or silver.
5: MOHAWK WITH DESIGNATION MARKINGS
This is again an option for the individualization of your helmet.
The silver or gun metal gray paint job is acceptable, kill markings or
different colored paint jobs are not acceptable and will not be approved
for Legion use or designation. Adding your designation # in the aurabesh
font, is allowed in white or silver on either the painted mohawk or one
that is simply black.
REQUIREMENTS
Straightened Ear Wells
2.75" Imperial Emblems
Greeblies affixed to earwells
It is accepted practice to have the Imperial Disk or "Greeblie"
mounted on the ear well. The correct positioning is shown here. Earwells
in many models of the TIE Helmet arrive warped due to improper storage
by the manufacturer or vendor. Heating the earwells with either a hot
water bath or hairdryer or heat gun while inserting a wooden form to aid
in getting the proper shape, will bring the earwells back into trim. See
the tutorial. for replacing the lenses and installing earwell
forms.
While not canon, the addition of the knob below the greeblie, is
optional and approvable
Here we see the difference in sizes of helmets: In all three pictures,

become the Don Post Classic Action.
